Chairman's Message

Pakistan is also facing Drugs Abuse problem like other world. A large numbers of people indulge in drug use especially youth. Executive body of MATH is a group of people who wants to do something for their community and striving for healthy life of Nation & also working for Drugs and HIV Free Pakistan” since its establishment in 1990.

MATH started its working from Gujranwala City which is 5th largest city of Pakistan with 4 million populations and later on expanded the activities to other cities of Pakistan. Despite other reasons, a huge number of people are unemployed which is also causing drug addiction. MATH had launched awareness campaign in 1990 and later on in 1994 established drug Treatment Centre inside Police Lines with the Collaboration of Gujranwala Police. Mr. Shahid Iqbal then SSP (Now DIG Police) Mian Javed Islam SP (Now RPO), Ch. Ahmad Nasim DIG (Rtd. IG Punjab) and Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri supported a lot. Treatment Centre shifted in new building namely Mian Afzal Trust Hospital (For Drug Treatment & Rehabilitation) in 2001. MATH has also been established Drop-In Centre and Rehabilitation services extended in the shape of Vegetable Farm, Fish Farm and Nursery along with Vocational Training Centre. Mr. Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Federal Minister for Narcotics Control laid down the foundation stone of 3rd Floor of Mian Afzal Trust Hospital on 2nd May-08 which functional now and MATH has 145 beds facility.

In 2008, my elder sister Mrs. Nasreen Afzal Patron In-Chief of Mian Afzal Trust Hospital was died which is a great loss for us because she did a great job for the organization and welfare of human beings. I pray to almighty Allah give her space in janat-ul-Firdous. (Ameen)

I really appreciates the efforts of members Board & Board of Trustees especially Haji Ghulam Mustafa Uppal, who supported a lot for above said achievements. Rana Maqsood Ahmad, Sufi Muhammad Javed and Mr. Arshad Javed Mughal and other trustees they did really great efforts for the achievement of goals of MATH as well as all the staff which worked whole-heartedly and have made the name of MATH as an institution to lead the members of the society to fight against the Drugs Abuse and HIV/AIDS.

I would also like to thanks the partner organizations i.e. Anti Narcotics Force (Ministry of Narcotics Control), United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime (UNODC), U.S embassy INL Pakistan, Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Program, GGP embassy of Japan Islamabad local community and all the well wishers who encouraging and supporting us for the achievement of goals and the betterment of mankind.
